What to Wear?

Redwomenssuit So you applied for that great job and now you have an interview. Good for you! But what are you going to wear? You're not wearing that, are you?

Having been on a few interviews myself, I know it can be a challenge to pick out an outfit for that big moment. Is it professional enough? Am I overdressed? Is a suit too much? It can make your head spin. And with good reason -- employers notice what you wear. It matters.

What makes it even more tricky is that outfits can change depending on the type of job you're interviewing for. While a suit is uber-appropriate for say, a law firm interview, it might appear too stuffy at a fashion magazine.

Glamour's fashion blog Slaves to Fashion can help. Blogger Lauren shows off three unique outfits she wore to different interviews. All are cute and might be the inspiration you're looking for.

Plus-sized models a plus!

Antmcycle102 Recently, the newest winner of America's Next Top Model (what "cycle" are we on here? 42?) was announced.

Whitney -- the first ever plus-sized ANTM winner took home the prize.

I Am Fashion told her thoughts on it here:

"I do think that it is about time a plus size model won and Whitney is not a bad choice. She is very gorgeous and well proportioned. And out of all the plus size models who have ever graced this show, she is the most confident about her full size figure and never had those rather annoying "oh no, I feel so depressed because I feel so fat compared to the other girls here" moments. Also, she did have the best Covergirl shot and did a good job on the runway (comparatively anyway, her walk was a bit too jaunty for my taste.)"

I have to admit I didn't watch this season, but I think it's great that a plus-sized woman was finally recognized as model-esque. It's about time!

Shoe of the Month

Jcrew_heels_green Just in case shoe fans needed another thing to lust over, I recently learned about J Crew's Shoe of the Month Club.

For $1,800 a year ($150 a month) a gorgeous shoe picked for you by J Crew designers will be delivered to your doorstep once a month. You have a choice of flats or pumps, or a combination of the two!

Shoes can be exchanged if they don't fit right, but only for a new size -- not a new design.

To join the club, call 1-866-739-5944.

Friends? Family? This would be an AWESOME wedding gift. :)

Survival Kit

Weddingdaysurvivalkit There's five and a half months until my wedding and I have a ton to think about. But one thing I'm not going to stress over is my Wedding Day Survival Kit, because I have some fantastic bridesmaids that will make sure that's taken care of. (Hear that, girls?)

Beauty Addict has a great post on everything you need to make sure your special day -- be it a wedding, prom, party or even a weekend getaway.

What's in her arsenal? She's broken it down into sections but here are just a few:

Clothes

  • Static Guard
  • Febreze (see if you can find the mini bottle)
  • Tide Pen
  • Double sided tape (I like Hollywood Fashion Tape in various sizes)
  • White chalk (to disguise any stains on the gown)
  • Packing tape (a friend recommended this and she's right, it does everything from repairing headpieces and hems to removing lint)
  • Sewing kit (w/ scissor)
  • Safety pins

Face

  • Makeup for touchups (major "duh" moment, right?)
  • Mirror
  • Tissues
  • Blotting papers
  • Q-tips
